Our Mission

We started this tutoring service not to hand out formulas or walk students through worksheets, but to dismantle the fear and frustration surrounding math. Too often, students are taught to memorize without understanding, and end up lost in a sea of variables and rules they don’t truly grasp. We’ve been there ourselves—and we’ve come out the other side loving math, once we saw the logic and elegance behind it.

That’s why our approach is different.

We focus on foundational understanding, not memorization. We encourage curiosity, not rote repetition. And we build confidence, not anxiety. Whether a student is struggling to catch up, trying to get ahead, or simply wants to learn math the way it should be taught, we meet them where they are and help them grow from the ground up.

From pre-algebra to calculus, Girardy Murphy Tutoring is about making math make sense—and making it enjoyable.

Because when students understand what’s going on behind the numbers, they stop feeling like they’re “bad at math” and start realizing they’re capable, logical, and even excited to learn more.

Let’s teach math the right way.

I’m a 17-year-old high school junior who’s been obsessed with math for as long as I can remember. From completing every honors-level math course in middle school to earning top grades through Calculus II, I’ve always chased a deep, logical understanding—not just the answers. To me, math is the language of the universe. It’s the only tool precise enough to explain the systems that science alone can’t. That’s why I believe so strongly that math shouldn’t be memorized—it should be understood. Real understanding removes fear and replaces it with curiosity, confidence, and joy.

Outside of math, I’m passionate about acting and theatre. I love building characters and understanding human behavior—it’s another system built on logic. That shared love for theatre is how I met my friend and co-founder, Andrew Murphy. We’ve acted in many shows together, and that creative partnership has now evolved into this tutoring mission.

My dream is to study quantum information science and become a researching physicist. I also hope to grow this business into something global—something that can spread clear, joyful math education to students everywhere.

Because if math is taught right, everyone can love it.

He holds a pen in his right hand, with two red apples placed on a stack of books related to physics and mathematics, including titles such as 'Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences' and 'Calculus.' On the table, there is also a spiral notebook with handwritten math notes and a cup filled with colorful pens.

Hi, I’m Andrew Murphy — a dedicated tutor, lifelong learner, and firm believer that every student is capable of brilliance when someone believes in them.

I’m especially passionate about helping students who’ve been told they’re “not a math person.” That’s never true — and together, we’ll prove it. I don’t just go after the fruit falling from the tree — I go to the root. The real struggle with math doesn’t come from lack of ability. It comes from a false belief that some people are just “bad at math.” It comes from self-consciousness, fear of being wrong, and the quiet silencing of the curious child within us.

My goal is to create a space where students feel safe to slow down, ask questions, and work through the areas they struggle in — rather than being rushed past them and left behind, like so often happens in school. Whether it’s algebra, calculus, or something in between, I explain concepts step by step with patience, clarity, and real conversation.

I work with students from middle school through high school, and my goal is to help them not just succeed — but truly understand, grow confident, and rediscover the joy of learning.
